Target Behavior

For instance if a BCBA hypothesizes that a function of behavior is maintained by attention, then giving that client attention will maintain that behavior.

Example: Jane screams when she wants her mother to play with her.  In other words she screams=she gets attention.  If we keep giving her attention, she has every reason to keep on screaming.  So what do we do?  We do NOT give her attention when she screams.
